Executive Order 26-02.1
Declaration of Disaster Emergency (Winter Storm) - Extension
WHEREAS, Rhode Island continues to experience high winds and record breaking snowfall;
WHEREAS, snowfall and drifting conditions are making roads impassable and snow removal difficult; and
WHEREAS, the health, safety and resources of the people of the State of Rhode Island continue to be endangered by these conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DANIEL J. McKEE, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Rhode Island, pursuant to Article IX of the Rhode Island Constitution and the Rhode Island General Laws, including, but not limited to, Title 30, Chapter 15, do hereby order and direct the following:
- The State of Emergency declared in Executive Order 26-02 remains in effect until further notice.
- All non-essential State offices and agencies shall remain closed on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, until 4:30 p.m. All non-essential personnel shall continue to be relieved from duty during this time. Essential State personnel, as determined by their respective agencies, should report to work, if feasible, and/or remain at work. Essential State personnel shall be exempt from the travel ban established in Executive Order 26-02 but are not permitted to travel over the Newport and Jamestown Bridges when the bridges are closed.
This Order shall take effect immediately.
