PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Dan McKee and RI AFL-CIO President Patrick Crowley jointly commended SEIU 1199 NE and Butler Hospital on reaching a tentative contract agreement. Prior to the announcement of a tentative agreement, Governor McKee’s Office, RI AFL-CIO, and Care New England had been working collaboratively to help bring the parties together.

“I am pleased that SEIU 1199 NE and Butler Hospital have reached a fair tentative agreement. My office worked closely with RI AFL-CIO and Care New England to play a supportive, convening role during this process. With their collaboration, we brought people together to find common ground in the best interest of the health and well-being of Rhode Islanders.

“I want to thank SEIU 1199 NE Executive Vice President Jesse Martin, Butler Hospital President/CEO Mary Marran, and their teams for their shared commitment to working through this process. This tentative agreement ensures that quality care continues and that our dedicated health care workers are supported in the crucial work they do every day,” said Governor Dan McKee.

“This is an important step forward for the members of SEIU 1199 and the management team at Butler Hospital. Working through this dispute took a great deal of patience and a commitment to problem-solving, and both sides deserve credit for taking this step forward,” said Patrick Crowley, President of the RI AFL-CIO.
