Rhode Island FC will play its inaugural home match at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, RI — Governor Dan McKee signed a proclamation declaring Saturday, May 3, 2025, as 'Rhode Island Football Club Day' ahead of the club's inaugural home match at the new Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket. The new stadium can seat 10,500 fans, and tickets for Saturday's opening match against San Antonio FC are sold out.

"RIFC is a true source of pride for Rhode Island,” said Governor Dan McKee. "I was proud to cast the tie-breaking vote to move this major economic development project forward, and I look forward to joining 10,500 soccer fans at Centerville Bank Stadium this Saturday for the first official home match—and hopefully the first official home win.”

“Rhode Island FC and Centerville Bank Stadium are kicking off a new era in Pawtucket," said Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien. "We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate Rhode Island FC's first game this Saturday, and to welcome the thousands of fans who will be coming to enjoy the game and visit Pawtucket's many great restaurants and breweries. Go Rhode Island FC!"

In July 2022, Governor McKee cast the tie-breaking vote to approve a plan for the stadium and the development of the Tidewater Landing site. As part of that plan, Centreville Bank Stadium will be accompanied by new housing and commercial retail space that will spark economic activity throughout the Blackstone Valley.

"May 3, 2025, signifies the dawn of an exciting new era for Rhode Island FC. Centreville Bank Stadium will be the stage for thrilling competition and unforgettable memories for years to come. We are ready to kick off this journey with our fans," said David Peart, President of Rhode Island FC.

“Centreville Bank Stadium is more than just the home of Rhode Island FC – it’s a dynamic new destination for sports, entertainment, and community life across the state. From world-class soccer and college football to concerts and community celebrations – this space is designed to welcome everyone and brings Rhode Islanders together in exciting new ways," said Paul Byrne, General Manager of Centreville Bank Stadium.

“On behalf of Rhode Island Commerce, I congratulate Rhode Island FC on this milestone and look forward to celebrating with them in Pawtucket,” said Secretary of Commerce Liz Tanner. “By partnering to bring this project to life, we’re helping create jobs, supporting economic growth, and fostering a sense of pride that will benefit the state and region for years to come.”

In addition to recognizing this Saturday as 'Rhode Island Football Club Day,' Governor McKee released a video to mark this milestone.
