Governor McKee Issues Proclamation Celebrating Pride Month in Rhode Island

Published on Tuesday, June 03, 2025

PROVIDENCE, RI — Governor Dan McKee today issued a proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month in Rhode Island.

“This proclamation not only honors the history and contributions of the LGBTQ+ individuals but also reaffirms that Rhode Island is a place for everyone,” said Governor McKee. “During Pride Month and beyond, we will continue to stand firmly against intolerance to ensure everyone feels welcome here in the Ocean State.”

“Every year, Pride Month serves as a reminder that our rights to be who we are and to love who we want are based on the hard work and constant advocacy of the LGBTQ+ community over many decades,” said Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos. “Rhode Island will always stand as a bastion of freedom from persecution, and we will never stop protecting the rights of our friends, neighbors, and families.”

The State House will be illuminated with Pride colors later this evening.
