PROVIDENCE, RI — Governor Dan McKee today announced his nomination of Bernard Georges, founder and executive director of New Bridges for Haitian Success, Inc., to serve on the Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority’s Board of Directors.
"Bernard is a dedicated community leader who has spent his career helping others find pathways to a successful future,” said Governor Dan McKee. “Bernard’s professional experience and deep ties to the community will make him an asset to the RIPTA board.”
For his work at New Bridges—supporting Haitian immigrants through job training, case management, counseling, and health care—Georges was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joe Biden in 2023 and received the Global Humanitarian Leadership Award from the 2023 World Leader Summit of Peace Sustainability Conference. He's also been honored with an Impact Award from the HAN Television Network.

Georges is an active member of Congressman Seth Magaziner's African American Advisory Group, the Providence Haiti Outreach Board, and the Immigrant Coalition RI Policy Committee.
“I want to thank the Governor for this opportunity to serve the people of Rhode Island, and I look forward to supporting Rhode Island’s vision for public transport,” said Georges.
After graduating from Providence’s Central High School, Georges earned an associate’s degree in law enforcement at the Community College of Rhode Island, a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, and a master's degree in public administration from Roger Williams University. He also earned a Graduate Certificate in Trauma Treatment from the Harvard Medical School Program.
The Governor has submitted Georges' name to the Senate for advice and consent.
