PROVIDENCE, RI — Governor Dan McKee announced today his nomination of Rhode Island business owner Jason Macari to serve on the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation Board.

“Jason brings energy, experience, and a proven track record of business leadership to the table,” said Governor Dan McKee. “From launching successful companies to developing innovative products, Jason knows what it takes to build and grow a business in our state. His insight will be an asset to the board as we work together to strengthen our economy, create jobs, and support local businesses.”

Macari has more than 30 years of executive business management experience, with an extensive background in product development and engineering. He currently serves as the President and CEO for both Macari Properties, Inc., and Baby Delight, Inc. He also owns Phantom Farms Inc. and Phantom Farms Brewing Inc., both located in Cumberland.

Prior to this work, Macari spent two decades as an executive in the infant and baby products industry. He served as CEO and founder of Woonsocket-based Summer Infant, Inc., and was vice president of product development and general manager at Boston-based Safety 1st Inc. Across both companies, Macari was responsible for overseeing key business functions such as research and design, engineering, marketing, quality control, and manufacturing operations.

Macari's career also includes work as a project engineer for Hasbro on GI Joe and Transformers products, and as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager for BARD Inc., where he oversaw the manufacturing engineering in three plants.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1984 and earned his Master of Business Administration from Bryant University in 1990.

Macari was recognized by the Providence Chamber of Commerce as Businessman of the Year in 2007. He is also an active and past volunteer for the March of Dimes, Women and Infants Hospital, and Mercymount Country Day School.

“I look forward to working with the rest of the board at the Commerce Corporation of Rhode Island and hope that my experiences in business and as a lifelong Rhode Island resident can help the state’s efforts to improve the business environment and the quality of life here in Rhode Island,” said Macari.

Macari’s name has been submitted to the Rhode Island Senate for advice and consent.
