PROVIDENCE, RI — Today, Governor Dan McKee announced his nomination of Karen Bradbury to serve on the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission.
"Karen’s expertise in energy policy, combined with a proven track record of delivering real results for Rhode Island—from securing major federal funding to launching innovative programs—makes her uniquely qualified to take on this role. Her commitment to advancing clean, affordable energy will be an asset to the Commission,” said Governor Dan McKee.
Bradbury brings extensive experience in energy policy at both the state and federal levels. As the Administrator of Energy Legislation and Programs for the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER), she leads the agency’s efforts to monitor and analyze all federal and state regulatory and legislative developments in the energy sector. Bradbury has been instrumental in securing tens of millions of dollars in federal energy funding for Rhode Island, including spearheading the launch of New England’s first home energy rebate program.
Before her time at OER, Bradbury worked as Projects Director for U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, where she was the state lead on energy and other environmental issues. Bradbury earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Providence College and completed her Master of Science in Labor and Industrial Relations from the University of Rhode Island.
“As a lifelong Rhode Islander, I am honored and humbled to be nominated by Governor McKee to serve on the Public Utilities Commission,” said Bradbury. For nearly 20 years, I’ve dedicated my professional career to navigating energy policy at the federal and state levels. If confirmed, I look forward to working, in concert with the Governor’s administration and the General Assembly, on reducing the utility cost burden on Rhode Island families and businesses.”
Bradbury’s name has been submitted to the Rhode Island Senate for advice and consent.
