Governor McKee Nominates Two to Governor’s Workforce Board

PROVIDENCE, RI — Governor Dan McKee today announced his nomination of two new members to the Governor's Workforce Board: James Ferrara and Sean Morrone.
The Governor's Workforce Board supports the State on workforce development matters and helps plan, coordinate, fund, and evaluate education, employment, and training programs that increase the skills of Rhode Island workers.
“A skilled workforce is the foundation to a strong economy and a more prosperous future for Rhode Island,” said Governor Dan McKee. “The Board stands to benefit from James and Sean’s experience and expertise. I look forward to working with both of them and the rest of the board to support the next generation of Rhode Island workers and help us chart a course to our RI 2030 goals.”
Ferrara has more than 30 years of experience in human resources. He currently works as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB). He previously worked as the managing director of human resources at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island and as the Senior Vice President of Divisional Recruitment at Citizens Financial Group.
Ferrara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Rhode Island and went on to obtain a graduate certificate as part of a three-year leadership program through the American Bankers Association’s Stonier Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
“As a lifelong Rhode Islander, and someone who, alongside my wife Nancy, has proudly watched our two amazing daughters begin their careers right here in our state, I am deeply honored and grateful for this nomination to Governor McKee's Workforce Board,” said Ferrara. “I look forward to contributing my experience and perspective to help strengthen Rhode Island's workforce and create even more opportunities for future generations.
Morrone has nearly a decade of experience in workforce development and human resources. He currently serves as Manager of Supplier & Workforce Development at General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB). As part of his role, Morrone has been instrumental in designing youth and adult educational career programs in Rhode Island and Connecticut. Morrone also helped secure crucial funding for GDEB’s Workforce Development pipeline trainings.
Prior to this role, Morrone worked as GDEB’s Chief of Talent Acquisition, Recruiting and Outreach where he led a team of recruiters and coordinators to plan and execute strategies to help increase applicant volume. Morrone also worked as the company’s Chief of Travel & Personnel Services and Senior Human Resources Representative. He earned is Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant University.
“This nomination to be on Governor McKee’s Workforce Board means a lot to both Electric Boat and our suppliers in the state of Rhode Island as we continuously strive to educate the K-12 and adult workforce on the lifelong career opportunities that help keep our country safe and contribute to the Rhode Island economy,” said Morrone.
The Governor has submitted both names to the Rhode Island Senate for advice and consent.
