PROVIDENCE, RI — Governor Dan McKee today signed a proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month in Rhode Island.
“By proclaiming June as Pride Month, Rhode Island has the chance to honor the contributions and recognize the resilience of the LGBTQ+ individuals throughout the Ocean State,” said Governor McKee. “Rhode Island is a state built on love, respect, and inclusion; and as Governor, I will continue to fight for equality for everyone.”
“Recognizing Pride Month is our commitment that Rhode Island will not give an inch to any attempts to roll back the hard-won rights of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos. “Our state is founded on the values of tolerance and self-determination, and we will always stand up for those principles.”
The State House will be illuminated with Pride colors later this evening. The Pride progress flag will also be flown.
