Governor McKee Statement on President Biden's Build Back Better Framework

PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Dan McKee today issued the following statement in support of President Biden's Build Back Better framework.

“When I met recently with President Biden in the Oval Office, we talked about the need to build more affordable housing, tackle rising child and health care costs, and create good-paying, family-sustaining union jobs.

I strongly support the President’s Build Back Better framework because, among other things, it includes transformative investments in child care and the care economy – delivering two years of free preschool for every 3- and 4-year-old in America; it invests in 21st century clean energy jobs and environmental justice; it expands the Earned Income Tax Credit; and it makes the single largest investment in affordable housing in our history. And just as the President promised, nobody earning less than $400,000 per year will pay a penny more in taxes. Taken together, the Build Back Better framework and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will create thousands of good, middle class jobs in multiple industries across Rhode Island and provide financial relief and lowered costs for families from Woonsocket to Westerly and everywhere in between. I thank our Congressional Delegation who has been fighting tirelessly for these priorities and I urge Congress to not delay and pass these historic pieces of legislation.”
