Governor McKee's Letter in Response to Town of North Kingstown’s Objection to Proposed Pyrolysis Facility at Quonset Business Park
Published on Thursday, April 16, 2026
This letter was sent by Governor McKee to North Kingstown Town Manager Ralph Mollis on Thursday, April 16.
Dear Town Manager Mollis, Thank you for your recent letter and for your continued engagement regarding the proposed pyrolysis facility at Quonset Business Park. I share the community’s serious concerns about the need for more transparency and public engagement surrounding this proposal.
As I stated in my March 27 letter, the residents of North Kingstown deserve clear, accessible information and meaningful engagement in this process. As a former mayor, I know that this type of project demands early, open, and ongoing public participation.
Quonset and QSS Biosolids should hold fully public, well-publicized meetings and provide comprehensive, accessible information to the community. These forums should include qualified experts prepared to answer questions directly and discuss concerns in a transparent and accountable way.
As you mention in your letter, the residents of North Kingstown do not support this project. If that continues to be the town’s position, I will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the community.
Sincerely,
Governor Dan McKee
